LIPETSK, Russia -- Another university in the western Russian Lipetsk Oblast closed today because so many of its students have the flu, RFE/RL's Russian Service reports.
The State Pedagogical University in the city of Lipetsk said it is canceling classes because about one in four of the university's students are sick with flu-like symptoms.
It is not known if any of those students have swine flu, or H1N1.
The closure is expected to last until December 2.
It is the 10th university or college in the region that has closed or suspend classes due to the increasing number of students falling ill with flu-like symptoms.
More than 180 high schools have also been closed since mid-October because of the flu epidemic, though they are scheduled to reopen on November 30.
Local officials have introduced the so-called "mask regime" which urges people to wear surgical masks in public places.
The city of Lipetsk has a population of some 500,000 people and is 438 kilometers southeast of Moscow.
