Russians Protest Against Attacks On Journalists

Mikhail Beketov was left in a coma after being attacked

Some 200 people protested in Moscow on November 14 against attacks on journalists.

The demonstrators marked the 2008 attack on Mikhail Beketov which left him in a coma for months and led to the amputation of a leg and fingers.

He had followed controversial plans to build a highway through Khimki forest outside Moscow.

A journalist for "Kommersant" daily Oleg Kashin and activist Konstantin Fetisov, both severely beaten this month, had also covered the same issue.
