The Russian Football Union (RFS) has requested that the leader of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, substantiate an allegation of corruption among Russia's football referees.
The RFS placed its request on its website on May 28.
On May 27, Kadyrov told journalists in Grozny that a soccer referee had demanded a bribe from him before a soccer match in Grozny.
Kadyrov added that after he refused to bribe him, the referee intentionally mishandled the match so that local team Terek Grozny would lose the game.
Kadyrov did not say when the alleged misdeed happened.
The Chechen leader was at the center of a scandal in March after he used the stadium's public address system to denounce a referee as a "sellout" and a "jerk" during a soccer match between Terek Grozny and Tatarstan's Rubin Kazan.
