The spokeswoman of President Dmitry Medvedev says that he has ordered power supplies to Belarus to be restored.
RIA Novosti news agency cites spokeswoman Natalya Timakova as saying on July 2 that "since Minsk has fulfilled its financial obligations, the president gave the order to restore electricity supplies to the Belarusian side according to the existing agreements."
The Kremlin said the decision came after Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin, in charge of the energy sector, confirmed in a phone call to Medvedev that Minsk had made its payment.
Russia cut power supplies to Belarus on June 29 after it failed to meet a second late payment deadline amid a severe economic crisis, but Minsk on July 1 said that it had settled its latest bill of $21 million.
