British police have arrested a man believed to be a former senior figure at Rupert Murdoch's News International group as part of their probe into phone-hacking at the "News of the World" tabloid.
Media reports said the 71-year-old man was arrested on August 2 by appointment at a London police station on suspicion of corruption and conspiring to intercept communications.
Sky News, which is partly owned by the newspaper's parent company, News Corporation, identified him as former "News of the World" managing editor Stuart Kuttner.
Detectives are probing allegations that journalists at the tabloid illegally intercepted voicemail messages on mobile phones and paid bribes to police in return for information.
