Voters in North Macedonia's capital, Skopje, have been casting ballots to elect the city mayor. A number of other cities also have mayoral runoffs taking place on October 31, two weeks after municipal elections in which the opposition made sweeping gains. Parties in the parliamentary opposition are hoping that the local elections might change alliances in the assembly and threaten Prime Minister Zoran Zaev's majority.
