U.S. officials have charged a Kyrgyz national with obstructing the investigation of the Boston Marathon bombing.
Khairullozhon Matanov, who lives in Quincy, Massachusetts, was arrested on May 30.
Prosecutors say the 23-year-old taxi driver was friends with accused bombers Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and Tamerlan Tsarnaev.
They say Matanov spoke with both brothers in the days after the bombing but lied to police about the extent of his relationship with the pair.
He also tried to dispose of a mobile phone he used to contact the brothers.
Matanov is charged with destroying, altering, and falsifying records, documents, and tangible objects in a federal investigation.
Matanov is not accused of playing a role in the bombing that killed three people and injured 264 on April 15, 2013.
