Rice Says Russia, U.S. Agree To Move Forward In Iraq

16 May 2004 -- U.S. national security adviser Condoleeza Rice has said that Washington and Moscow share "a common understanding" on how to bring stability to Iraq.

In an interview being broadcast today on Russia's NTV television station, Rice said the two countries agree on how to "move forward" in Iraq. She didn't elaborate.

Rice's remarks came a day after she held meetings in Moscow with Russian President Vladimir Putin and other top Russian officials.

Rice today continued on to Berlin, where she is expected to have talks tomorrow with German officials on Iraq and the Middle East.
