Iraqi Minister Says Country Wants More Say In Reconstruction

10 October 2004 -- Iraqi Planning Minister Mahdi al-Hafidh said today that he will tell an international donors conference that Iraq wants to play a bigger role in its own reconstruction.

Al-Hafidh made his remarks today in the Jordanian capital Amman. He said he intends to make that speech at an upcoming donors conference in Japan, scheduled to meet on 13-14 October in Tokyo.

Representatives from some 50 countries are scheduled to attend the conference.
