Israeli Officials Discussing Arafat Burial

10 November 2004 -- Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon met in Jerusalem today with top aides to discuss the possible arrangements for the burial of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.

Arafat is in a deep coma at a military hospital outside Paris. He suffered a stroke yesterday.

Palestinian leaders returned to the West Bank after traveling to Arafat's bedside in Paris for a look at his condition. For more than a week, Arafat's wife, Suha, had restricted access to her husband, causing a rift with his top lieutenants.

Meetings were planned later today by Arafat's aides to discuss a possible funeral and Palestinian succession issues.

The Palestinians say Arafat will be buried at the West Bank headquarters, which had been his virtual prison for the last three years.
