'Discovery' To Land In California


9 August 2005 (RFE/RL) -- U.S. space agency officials say the space shuttle "Discovery" has been cleared to land today at California's Edwards Air Force Base after weather thwarted --> http://www.rferl.org/featuresarticle/2005/08/9608d90e-542d-4cd1-a791-27722d11a1be.html its planned landing in Florida.

NASA says the shuttle is now due to land at 5:12 a.m. local time.

The "Discovery" was originally scheduled to end its 13-day space mission on 8 August, but the landing in Florida was cancelled due to bad weather.

This is the first shuttle flight since the 2003 "Columbia" shuttle accident, when the craft and all seven astronauts aboard were lost.
