Georgian President Orders Search For New Wine Markets

Casks of Georgian wine (file photo) (InterPressNews) April 12, 2006 -- Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili today ordered government ministers to look for new export outlets following Russia's decision to suspend all Georgian wine imports.

Russia stopped importing Georgian and Moldovan wines on March 27, saying they contain pesticides and other chemicals. Both Tbilisi and Chisinau say the move is politically motivated.
