EU Ministers Begin Talks On Europe's Future

(RFE/RL) May 27, 2006 -- European Union foreign ministers hold two days of talks starting today in Vienna on the future of Europe.

The meeting comes a year after an EU-wide constitution was rejected by voters in France and the Netherlands, raising questions over European integration.

A recent poll showed that barely half of Europeans see EU membership positively, and many are concerned about the bloc's policy of inviting poorer states from the East to join.
