Woman Allegedly Aged 135 Hospitalized In Iran


(RFE/RL) June 2, 2006 -- A woman who claims to be 135 years old has been hospitalized in Iran after suffering a stroke.


Iran's official IRNA news agency says Kafieh Torkashvand was born in 1870. She reportedly has two children, 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.


The oldest person whose age has been confirmed was Jeanne Calment, a French woman who died in 1997 at the age of 122.
