Four NATO Soldiers Killed In Afghanistan

A British helicopter lands in operations in early August in southern Afghanistan (epa) August 3, 2006 -- NATO's military force says that three NATO troops were killed and six wounded in an ambush in the same area of southern Afghanistan where a Canadian soldier was killed earlier today.

The Canadian soldier was killed in Afghanistan's southern Kandahar Province.

Seven soldiers serving with the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force since the alliance formally took command of Afghanistan's south from the U.S.-led coalition on July 31.

In related news, reports say Afghan government troops backed by NATO planes today killed 10 Taliban fighters in Helmand Province, west of Kandahar Province.

The fighting was part of an operation that the Afghan government says claimed the lives of another 18 militants on August 2.
