24 Reported Killed In Baghdad Bombing


(RFE/RL) August 30, 2006 -- Twenty-four people were reported killed and 35 wounded when a bomb exploded in a central Baghdad market today.


The Shorja wholesale market in the Bab al-Sharji district has been a frequent target for bomb attacks by insurgents.


In the town of Samawa, south of Baghdad, one person was killed as volunteers seeking jobs in the army clashed with the police. Three police officers were also injured in the violence.
