Poland Reiterates Demand For Russia To Lift Embargo

Polish Foreign Minister Anna Fotyga (left, file photo) (epa) December 8, 2006 -- Poland's foreign minister, Anna Fotyga, has reiterated that Warsaw will lift its objections on Russian negotiations with the European Union if Moscow lifts its ban on Polish meat imports.

Russia has banned the import of Polish meat and agricultural products because of what it claims are shoddy procedures at Polish customs.

The ban led Warsaw to block the start of negotiations on a new EU-Russia cooperation accord to replace a 1997 agreement that expires next year.
