U.S. Says Kyrgyz Air Base Not Topic For Third Countries

Boucher (right) with Kyrgyz Prime Minister Almazbek Atambaev on June 8 (AFP) BISHKEK, June 11, 2007 (RFE/RL) -- During a visit to Kyrgyzstan today, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Richard Boucher said that an agreement for the U.S. military's use of a base there is not a matter for any third country, RFE/RL's Kyrgyz Service reported.

The United States uses part of Kyrgyzstan's Manas Airport for supporting operations in Afghanistan.

Some countries, notably Russia, have called on the United States to set a timetable for withdrawal from the base.
