Paris, 3 March (RFE/RL) -- United Nations war crimes prosecutor Carla Del Ponte has voiced strong displeasure at the lack of cooperation she has received so far from Yugoslav President Vojislav Kostunica. Del Ponte said in an interview on French radio station RFI that she saw little chance Yugoslavia would hand over former President Slobodan Milosevic for trial in The Hague, where he is wanted on war crimes charges. Del Ponte said she was disappointed by what she termed Kostunica's "incredible nationalism" when she met him in January. She said Kostunica still lives is the past while Yugoslavia needs to look to the future.
Del Ponte said she will visit the United Nations Security Council in May and propose punitive measures be imposed on Yugoslavia if it does not cooperate with the war crimes tribunal.
