From Russia's Interfax news agency:
Ukrainian government forces and militias are exchanging artillery fire in the area of the Donetsk airport, the defense ministry of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) told Interfax on Saturday.
"We are continuing to fight for the part of the Donetsk airport still controlled by Ukrainian government forces. These are several buildings and a strip of wood," he said.
The DPR said earlier that its forces controlled some 90 percent of the airport territory.
Ukrainian government forces are currently firing mortars of various caliber, and the militias are using artillery guns to suppress them, the DPR defense ministry said.
From Bloomberg:
Pro-Russian rebels fired on Ukrainian troops at 11 positions as an international commission was expected to start its work on setting up borders for a buffer zone between the battling sides.
Rebels again tried to take over the airport in Donetsk, the largest city in the conflict area, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry said on its Facebook page today.
Shelling and explosions were heard in the city early this morning and the situation was “tense,” according to a statement on the city council’s website.
