Central Asian Jihadists Head To Syria To Join Islamic State Militants
Hundreds of Islamist fighters have traveled from Central Asia to Syria to swell the ranks of Islamic State militants. Many are recruited while working as migrant laborers in Russia. Governments which have been fighting home-grown militant movements since the fall of the Soviet Union now fear the return of battle-hardened veterans will pose a new threat to their own security.
