Young And Alone: Refugee Children Make Risky Trek To Europe Without Parents
They are children who have escaped war and poverty by traveling thousands of kilometers alone without a parent or relative. Amid the wave of refugees and migrants flooding into Europe are thousands of unaccompanied minors -- kids under the age of 18 who have fled conflict zones by themselves. RFE/RL traveled to the Greek capital, Athens, a key transit point for unaccompanied minors, to meet children who’ve embarked on a risky and lonely journey. (RFE/RL's Freshta Jalalzai, Roman Kupka & Stuart Greer)
