BAKU -- The Dalga Youth Movement staged a dramatic performance in front of the building housing Azerbaijan’s Youth and Sports Ministry to protest the expulsion of Perviz Azimov from Lankaran State University, RFE/RL's Azerbaijani Service reports.
Azimov, who is an activist in the Dalga movement, was expelled from the university two months ago.
The official reason for his expulsion was tied to his alleged beating of a fellow student.
However, Azimov and his colleagues say the real reasons for his expulsion could be related to an article he wrote on corruption at the university, as well as his active membership in Dalga, which is known for its opposition activities.
Azimov says he plans to sue the university.
