DUSHANBE -- Nikolai Bordyuzha, the secretary-general of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), said he has discussed the creation of a CSTO rapid reaction force with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, RFE/RL's Tajik Service reports.
Bordyuzha was in Bishkek before traveling to Dushanbe to meet with Rahmon.
Bordyuzah said the CSTO has no plans to use the Kyrgyz air base at Manas Airport after the pullout of U.S. forces, scheduled for August.
He added that if necessary the CSTO can use the Russian air base at Kant, Kyrgyzstan.
The CSTO includes Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan.
