PRAGUE -- Energy security will top the agenda for Czech Prime Minister Miroslav Topolanek's meeting with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov in the Turkmen capital on February 13.

Topolanek's spokesman Frantisek Potuznik told RFE/RL's Turkmen Service that the routing of Caspian energy supplies through Turkey to Europe, known as the southern corridor, will be discussed.

The Czech Republic currently holds the European Union's rotating presidency and as such Topolanek will discuss with Turkmen leaders the Eastern Partnership, a plan intended to increase economic cooperation between six former Soviet countries and the EU.

Topolanek also hopes to increase educational and cultural ties with Turkmenistan by partnering with Czech universities, a relationship he said is as important as economic issues.
