KYIV -- An international jazz festival called Unity is taking place in the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, RFE/RL's Ukrainian Service reports.
Musicians from Germany, Lithuania, Russia, and Ukraine are performing.
The chief organizer of Unity, Serhiy Hrabar, told RFE/RL that the festival's policy is to invite not only prominent masters of jazz but young jazz performers as well.
Ukrainian jazzman Oleksiy Kohan says the festival is professionally organized and is well known throughout Europe.
He said it helps Ukraine achieve a higher profile in Europe's cultural life.
