Kazakhstan's Air Astana Resumes Flights To Bishkek

ALMATY -- Kazakhstan's main airline, Air Astana, has resumed flights from Almaty to Bishkek flights, RFE/RL's Kazakh Service reports.

The flights were suspended on April 8, one day after deadly clashes between antigovernment protesters and security forces erupted in the Kyrgyz capital, Bishkek.

The clashes led to the ouster of President Kurmanbek Bakiev and the creation of an interim government.

Many thousands of Kyrgyz citizens work in Kazakhstan's largest city, Almaty, and travel to their native country on a regular basis.
