'Lash'

"Lash," a poem by Mehrangiz Rassapour (M. Pegah) and performed here by my colleague from Radio Farda, journalist and actor Mirali Hosseini, is about the use of torture -- physical and psychological -- in Iran’s prisons in order to break political prisoners and force them into confessions dictated by the interrogators.

In this YouTube version of the poem (with English subtitles), Mirali Hosseini plays the roles of both the torturer and the prisoner.
