Turkmen Diplomat Beaten In Moscow


A Turkmen diplomat was beaten in Moscow on November 4 and remains hospitalized, RFE/RL's Turkmen Service reports.

The Turkmen Embassy in Moscow told RFE/RL today that Gurban Saparov, the embassy secretary, was attacked on the street and beaten. He suffered several injuries, including some to his head.

The Turkmen Embassy sent a diplomatic note to Russian authorities about the incident.

Racially motivated attacks in Russia have increased dramatically in recent years.
