The Turkmen government resumed the dismantling of satellite dishes in Ashgabat this week, RFE/RL's Turkmen Service reports.
Earlier this year, President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov announced that satellite dishes on apartment blocks affected "the Turkmen capital's beauty."
After his announcement, local authorities started to remove the dishes, but the campaign was halted on two occasions.
Human rights activists say that the action aims to control the free flow of information to the country by preventing people from viewing foreign or international programming.
