The president of the Russian Republic of Bashkortostan has dismissed the republic's government and assumed the responsibilities of prime minister himself.

Rustem Khamitov called the move part of a larger reform of the executive branch aimed at ending overlapping responsibilities between the government and the presidential administration.

He said a new government structure will be announced within days, along with appropriate modifications to republican legislation.

Based on reporting by Interfax and ITAR-TASS
