Suu Kyi, Pope Francis Sidestep Rohingya Muslim Exodus From Burma
Aung San Suu Kyi, the leader of Burma, the country also known as Myanmar, spoke of an erosion of trust between communities, but she did not refer directly to more than half a million Rohingya Muslims who have fled to Bangladesh since a military crackdown this year in the Burmese state of Rakhine. Pope Francis also refrained from directly mentioning the Rohingya minority in a speech delivered alongside Suu Kyi on the second day of his visit to Burma on November 28. He called for respect of the identity of "each ethnic group" instead. (Reuters)
