Mejlis Chief Criticizes Member's 'Hasty' Move To New Crimean Legislature
The legislature of Russian-controlled Crimea has appointed as deputy speaker a pro-Moscow member of the Crimean Tatars' self-governing body, the Mejlis. Remzi Ilyasov told journalists the Mejlis approved his candidacy after three months of deliberations. But Mejlis Chairman Refat Chubarov criticized Ilyasov for making a "hasty" decision to participate in the disputed legislature with key issues facing the Crimean Tatar minority unresolved since Russia's annexation of the Ukrainian peninsula.
