For Guemy, the people of Ukraine have been a source of inspiration for his work. The artist fashioned murals of Dmytro Kotsyubaylo, the youngest battalion commander in the Ukrainian Army, known as "Da Vinci." The death of the 27-year-old, who was killed in battle in Bakhmut, was a transformative moment in Ukraine's resistance against the Russian invasion.
