Obama In Farewell Address: 'Protecting Our Way Of Life Not Just The Job Of Our Military'
In a farewell address to the nation on January 10, U.S. President Barack Obama said he leaves the nation stronger than when he came into office eight years ago but that Americans must overcome deep divisions that threaten to unravel the country's unity of purpose and power. He warned that internal divisions of society and the acrimony of political debate represent threats as great as any external threat from terrorists or dictators. He called on Americans to work to fight the "corrosive" trends toward division, isolation, and discrimination against those who look and think differently from themselves. (AP, Reuters)
