Mohammad Yousuf, a witness, speaking today to Reuters in Karachi after a bomb blast that targeted an ANP politician:
"As soon as Awami National Party (ANP) candidate Amanullah Mehsud was at a distance from me and my brother, suddenly the blast happened. When I rushed to the scene, I saw bodies lying all over the ground, some without limbs, another without a head. I carried the injured to the hospital. I don't know what happened. My brother is still in the hospital."

Pakistan's chief election commissioner, Fakhruddin G. Ibrahim to reporters in Lahore:
"The bad guys will benefit if the good people don't vote. Bad guys succeed when good people don't take part in elections. I will not call it an obligation but it is your moral duty to cast your vote. It is compulsory. Cast your vote if you want to change your future."

RFE/RL talked to an official of the Election Commission in Peshawar, Khushal Zada, who rejected the reports. A female-rights activist, Shad Begum from Dir Area, however, confirmed that women are being banned from voting in Lower Dir district.
