At Least Three Killed In Explosion At Pakistani Shrine

A bomb hidden on a donkey cart exploded at a Sufi shrine in Peshawar, killing at least three people and wounding more than 20 others.

The bomb went off at the Panj Pir shrine on the outskirts of the city.

Worshippers had gathered at the site as they traditionally do on Thursday evenings.

Local police representative Asif Iqbal said a 5-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl were among the dead.

Reports said 11 of the 23 people wounded were also children.

The shrine marks the site where several Sufi saints are buried.

Taliban militants are known to be active in the area and their purist form of Islam rejects worship of saints and shrines.
