A Pakistani-born man has been arrested near the U.S. capital and charged by U.S. authorities with providing support to the Pakistan-based militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba.
U.S. prosecutors say Jubair Ahmad, who has been living in northern Virginia, produced and posted on YouTube in September 2010 a propaganda video in support of Lashkar-e-Taiba.
Prosecutors say he then lied about his involvement with the video when questioned by U.S. investigators.
Ahmad, who is 24 years old, faces up to 23 years in U.S. prison if convicted on charges of providing material support to a foreign terrorist organization and making false statements in a terrorism investigation.
The anti-Indian militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba was designated by the U.S. government as a foreign terrorist organization in 2001.
FBI investigators say their probe has found that that when he was a teenager, Ahmad received "indoctrination and training" from Lashkar-e-Taiba while he lived in Pakistan.
