Russia's Bolshoi Theater is mourning a new tragedy -- the death of a senior violinist who fell into the orchestra pit.
Katerina Novikova , the Moscow company's spokeswoman, confirmed that Viktor Sedov, 65, died from his injuries in a Moscow hospital on July 17 after falling on July 16.
Sedov was a veteran of the ballet and opera house's orchestra for four decades.
His death comes as the Bolshoi is still reeling from an acid attack earlier this year on the artistic director of its ballet troupe, Sergei Filin.
Last week, the Russian government fired the Bolshoi's general director, Anatoly Iksanov, replacing him with Vladimir Urin.
Urin previously headed Moscow's highly-regarded Stanislavsky Musical Theater.
