A marathon held by several independent media outlets in Russia on June 12 to raise funds to support political prisoners and Russian citizens who openly condemn Moscow's ongoing invasion of Ukraine has raised 34.5 million rubles ($415,000), organizers said. The organizers said they want to show that not all Russians support Moscow’s aggression against its neighbor. The event in Moscow started at 9 a.m. and lasted until 10 p.m. on June 12, which marks Russia Day -- a national holiday celebrating the then-Soviet republic's declaration of state sovereignty in 1990.
