Putin To Meet With Former French President

Russian President Vladimir Putin has met with former French President Valery Giscard d'Estaing in Moscow.

Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov attended the meeting at the Kremlin on May 28.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov earlier told reporters that Putin would have a "sort of private meeting" with Giscard d'Estaing at the Kremlin to "maintain conventional relations."

Giscard d'Estaing, 89, was French president from 1974 to 1981.

The ex-president has been critical of U.S. policies related to Russia and made statements in support of Moscow's illegal annexation of Ukraine's Crimean Peninsula.

Based on reporting by TASS and Interfax
