A U.S. official has expressed optimism about an eventual return to six-party talks on North Korea's nuclear program.

U.S. negotiator Stephen Bosworth told reporters in Geneva on October 25 that two days of talks with North Korean negotiators on the subject have been "very useful" and "positive and generally constructive" but that more time is needed to build a basis for resumption of the talks.

Pyongyang quit the six-party talks in April 2009, a month before staging its second atomic weapons test.
