Turkey To Train 390 Afghan Police

Afghan officials unload a truckload of heroin in Jalalabad, 22 February (epa) 28 February 2006 -- The Turkish government today said that Turkey will train 390 Afghan police officials as part of its continuing assistance to Afghanistan.
The Turkish semiofficial news agency Anatolia quotes Interior Minister Abdulkadir Aksu as saying that Turkey has already trained 127 Afghan police in fighting drug trafficking.


Aksu made the comments at a meeting about Afghanistan's border security in Doha, Qatar.


Turkey, the only Muslim NATO member, has previously led the stabilization mission in Afghanistan.
