U.S. Drone Strike Kills 10 Militants In Pakistan

MIRANSHAH, Pakistan -- Officials say a U.S. drone strike targeting a compound in Pakistan's northwestern tribal belt on the Afghan border has killed at least 10 militants.

An unnamed senior Pakistani official said two unmanned aircraft fired four missiles, hitting the compound and a vehicle parked in Datta Khel, 45 kilometers west of Miranshah, the main town in North Waziristan tribal district.

Some 20 U.S. drone strikes have been reported in Pakistan's tribal belt since U.S. commandos killed Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden in a raid on the Pakistani garrison city of Abbottabad on May 2.

Relations between Pakistan and the United States have deteriorated sharply since the killing of bin Laden, culminating most recently in the withholding of hundreds of millions of dollars of U.S. aid to Pakistan's military.
