Internship opportunity in Ukrainian Service (Producer/Translator Focus)

If you wish to make a difference in places where transition to rule-of-law societies is not yet completed, RFE/RL offers eligible, qualified students the opportunity to engage with professionals and to learn more about our mission. In doing so, you would acquire practical experience with the support of a mentor. Internships are a competitive process and are unpaid. We offer skills development and an opportunity to contribute to an exciting media project.  

Our Ukrainian Service is seeking an intern for cooperation to assist with production and translation tasks. The intern will gain the basic knowledge of television production, from searching and developing the topics to writing scripts, filming in the field and editing TV and SM stories. The intern will be responsible for communication with different Czech authorities and organizations; and assist with the necessary arrangements for filming. The internship will last for 3 months (minimum), but the period can be extended. The intern is expected to be available at least for 4 hours a day (minimum 20 hours a week in total) and be able to travel to shootings.  

 

You will learn:  

  • about the work of the Ukrainian Service.  

  • the basics of the television production. 

  • how to develop topics for TV production and write scripts. 

  • how to work within a TV team and communicate on different levels with Czech authorities and organizations. 

  • and practice translation skills (Czech to Ukrainian). 

 

Minimum requirements are:  

  • Enrolled university student or recent graduate – must be in good standing.  

  • An educational background and/or experience in journalism, multimedia, Political Sciences, or PR. 

  • Native-level Ukrainian fluency. 

  • Fluent in Czech and English. 

  • Experience with translation is an advantage. 

  • Excellent communication skills. 

  • Ability to work within the team. 

  • Ability to work under tight deadlines. 

  • Basic knowledge of Adobe Premiere is a plus. 

  • Interest and awareness in news and current affairs from RFE/RL’s broadcast regions.
