Are you interested in a job in a non-profit organization with a powerful mission? We are looking to hire a Regional Finance & Accounting Officer to join our dynamic and passionate Regional Finance & Operations team.

What you’ll accomplish:

  • You will be responsible for overseeing financial operations for the assigned foreign offices in RFE/RL's broadcast region.
  • Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
  • Reviewing monthly accounting packages, including payments made in different currencies, payroll, procurement etc. and processing them for internal purposes;
  • Reviewing, validating, and entering financial data into the accounting system (PeopleSoft), ensuring accurate records and clear supporting documentation;
  • Preparing, checking, and ensuring month‑end close activities, including reconciliations, accruals, pre‑paid expense tracking, and write‑offs;
  • Monitoring bureau expenses and assets, including accurate asset recording through AP vouchers;
  • Analyzing bureau accounts to identify discrepancies, trends, or potential issues;
  • Supervising and supporting Bureau Administrators to ensure consistent, compliant finance and purchasing practices.

 

What you bring:

  • Education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field;
  • Fluency in English and Czech; operational proficiency in a broadcast region language is a plus;
  • 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in an international environment;
  • Experience with financial reporting;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, charts etc.);
  • Accuracy, attention to detail and excellent organizational skills;
  • Experience in handling confidential data with a high degree of discretion.

This is a locally recruited full-time position on a one-year assignment initially, with the possibility of an open-ended contract extension.  The opportunity is only open to applicants with the legal right to work in the Czech Republic.

Appointment against this post is on a local basis only. Please note that for the locally advertised positions preference will be given to those with a work permit and/or a valid residence status in the Czech Republic. Locally recruited employees should reside within commuting distance of Prague, Czech Republic, or be willing to move to take up work. They are not eligible for allowances applicable to candidates who are internationally recruited. Rather, they receive statutory benefits as per Czech labor law. Salary scales for locally recruited employees are based on the best prevailing local conditions. RFE/RL does, however, cover the costs of interview travel and, upon appointment, some relocation costs.
