Kosovo Albanians To Be Tried On War Crimes

13 October 2004 -- The UN war crimes court at The Hague announced today it will soon start its first trial of former ethnic Kosovo Albanian fighters accused of war crimes during the 1998-99 Kosovo war.

The trial is scheduled to start on 15 November. Three former members of the Kosovo Liberation Army, or KLA, stand accused of crimes against Serb and ethnic Albanian civilians in a prison camp in eastern Kosovo in 1998.

All three of the accused have pleaded not guilty to the charges, which include torture and murder.
