More Than 12,000 Observers To Monitor Ukrainian Vote

22 December 2004 -- Ukraine's Central Election Commission has registered 12,271 international observers to monitor the country's 26 December repeat presidential runoff.

Interfax-Ukraine quoted Central Election Commission official Ruslan Kniazevych as saying that today is the deadline for filing observer applications.


RFE/RL has been declared an "undesirable organization" by the Russian government.
