Romanians Continue To Evacuate Flooded Areas


The flood, as experienced by Romanians in the city of Braila (epa) April 20, 2006 -- Romanian authorities are continuing to evacuate hundreds of residents from their homes in flooded areas along the Danube River.


The worst of the flooding has passed in Romania, Bulgaria, and Serbia, but authorities warn that weakened flood defenses mean that many towns are still in danger.


In all, some 7,000 people have been evacuated in Romania, and more than 700 homes have been flooded.
