Truck Hits Crowd In Iraq, Killing At Least 18

(RFE/RL) December 2, 2006 -- A truck driving at high speed slammed into a bus stop in a town south of Baghdad today, killing at least 18 people and wounding 15.

Iraqi police said the truck hit a group of people in Al-Wahada, 35 kilometers south of Baghdad, as they were waiting for buses to the capital.

Police says it didn't appear to be an accident because the truck didn't have a flat tire or any other obvious mechanical problems.
